Scattering matrix measurement Parent topic

How to measure scattering matrix

Fig. 1. Arrangement of optical components for the measurement of the scattering matrix of a particle: P - polarizer, A - analyzer (a polarizer used to filter certain polarization state of light), θ - scattering angle. It is assumed that the particle is illuminated by a beam (emerging from P) whose cross sectional distribution of irradiance and polarization state is uniform within the geometrical cross section of the particle perpendicular to the beam axis.
