Problem: A plane lambertian source Prev topic | Next topic

Consider a plane lambertian light source with a power output Φ. Prove that:

1. The intensity, Io, of that source (in the direction of the normal to the surface) can be expressed as follows:

I0 = Φ / π  (1)

2. The radiance, L, of that source (independent of direction in a hemisphere into which the source radiates) relates to the irradiance generated by that source as follows:

L = E / π  (2)
