RTE numerical solution methods: Successive orders of scattering Prev topic | Next topic

This technique is iterative (succesive approximation). At the first iteration, the path (source) function is evaluated in the single scattering approximation and the radiance distribution is calculated analytically. This distribution enables the calculation of the path function in the iteration. The calculations are finished, if the subsequent iteration does not produce a significant improvement over the previous one. The vector nature of light (polarization of light) can be taken into account, for example Kotchenova et al 2007. [AAK]
