Particle trapping and manipulation techniques are crucial to many chemical and biological applications. Many of these techniques rely on optical trapping and cell manipulation also referred to as optical tweezers. Neuman and Block (2004) and Grier (2003) review optical particle trapping that is based on the pioneering work of Ashkin et al (1986, 1987).
