M11(x) at moderate m
Fig. 1b. Typical oscillatory behavior of the M11(x, θ ) element of the scattering matrix in Mie theory as a function of the relative particle size, x, for a range of x well beyond the first maximum of that element, at three scattering angles, θ: 0° (red), 90° (green), and 180° (blue) for a microsphere with a moderate relative refractive index of 1.19 (for example, polystyrene in water). Calculations were performed at a resolution of Δx = 0.1 with the MJC Light Scattering Calculator for Homogeneous Spheres.
