VIS - visible electromagnetic radiation, light. This term refers typically to a wavelength range of 450 to 750 nm (for example, Wyatt CL 1991), although the definition of that range varies (for example, http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/specol.html#c1). According to the latter definition, the major colors are assigned the following wavelength subbands:
