RTM - radiative transfer modeling: the use of the radiative transfer equation (1) to determine the light field, i.e. the spatio-directional distribution of radiance or derived radiometric quantities (for example, irradiance), (2) to determine the optical/material properties of turbid medium or of particles that constitute such medium (such as PSD or refractive index) from measurements of the light field in that medium.
