Polar nephelometer - typically, this term is used for nephelometer designs which employ mechanical scanning of the scattering angle. The scanning is typically done by moving (rotating) the detector about the scattering volume or particle. Conversely, the detector system can be stationary and the particle is moved (for example, Maltsev VPA 2000, Loken MR et al 1976
