PM - particulate matter concentration (mass). In aerosol research, PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 (also denoted by PM1, PM2.5, and PM10) represent mass concentrations of particles with aerodynamic diameters respectively less than 1, 2.5, and 10 µm. These values specify the 50% collection efficiency cut-offs of the sampling devices (for example, Morawska L and Salthammer 2003b, p.8; see also Krzyżanowski M 1999). In the case of atmospheric aerosols, the PM values are typically expressed in µg m-3. [LM]
