Microtubule - filamentous protein polymer found in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. The diameter of microtubule is typically about 25-nm. Microtubules help a cell to maintain its shape. They are part of the cytoskeleton and are involved in cell movement and defining the cell structure. [AVZ]
